welcome to the tales of our crazy life

I'm Heather. I'm over-caffeinated, under appreciated and constantly amused by these two crazy peeps we call our daughters.

I started this blog in April 2006 because I don't want to forget a single second of this awesome life. Why a blog? Because I'm a slacker. That's why.

Baby books? I'd actually have to find a pen. Have you SEEN my house? (Shhhhhhht...NOT a question). Scrapbooking? Puh-lease. When you can add six more hours in the day MAYBE we'll talk about it. I do like to sleep. Occasionally.

Talent Show

The Ruler entered the school talent show for the second year in a row. She taught her friend Jacy one of the dances she learned in her hip hop class at Paco Dance Academy. They made some changes to the choreography, practiced every day at recess and after even met up to practice after school one day and well...they pretty much killed it!

We're so proud of the girls. And thanks to our friend Leo who taped the performance for us!

Who Cares

While The Lu is our artist, Roo is our writer. Every now and then I'll find things like this in her notebooks or folders. But none have hit me like this one did.

It literally brought me to tears. I'm so in love with this girl and so proud of the confident individual she has become.

This little girl will change the world. I have no doubt about it.

Dear Mr. Buddy

Roo has officially watched every episode of every season of Cake Boss. And now she's written a letter to Buddy Valastro. I'm so proud of this girl. Her wheels are always turning and she's completely fearless with her dreams.

If Buddy doesn't write her back I may have to make a trip to Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken.

Overheard

LU : Sissy, I'm gonna cover this cake with white fondant.

ROO : No, you need to dirty ice it with buttercream first.

Cake Boss, much, girls?

The Love Letter to End All Love Letters

Once upon a time, my heart exploded.

The End.

Acsadets Happen

Acsadets happen. How you choose to handle them defines your character.

The girls were at our house with Grandma today. I came home and found this sweet note atop a broken frame. I couldn't help but smile and be proud.

The Devil Made Her Do It

Or was it the dragon?

No. It was her sister.

Differences

Roo to Lu : The smell from your botox is disgusting.

Dear Roo,

There's a big difference between botox and buttocks.

This is botox.

That disgusting smell you just got a whiff of came from your sister's buttocks.

Hope that clears the air. Pun intended.

Love,
Mom

Where's Tim Gunn When I Need Him?

I came home to some serious Project Runway action this afternoon. Roo and Lu declared that they were having a "majorly serious fashion design competition".

Chris and I couldn't possibly pick the winner and I seem to have misplaced Tim Gunn's number. (DESIIIIIIIIIIGNNNERSSS...)

So...Roo asked me to blog their designs and get our readers to vote for their favorite. (Does my girl know how to work the internet or what?)

To keep this "majorly serious fashion design competition" fair I won't say who created which design so please leave a comment to vote for the design on the left or the right.

The stakes are high, people! Winner gets double dessert tonight.

A Hardened Criminal

Roo and her daddy have a new game they like to play. Roo rides her bike up and down the street while Daddy pretends to be a police officer. Here's the latest citation she received.

Kool-Aid overdose? She's quite the hardened criminal.

Pool Time

What happens when a photographer mom asks her swimming kids to stop and pose for a picture at the pool?

And...now back to regularly scheduled programming.

Happy Summer, friends!

Trick Rider

I'm so proud of The Ruler. This girl is fearless on a bike. She came up with this on her own and just as she finished she said, "Hey, Mama! Next I wanna try standing on my handlebars, okay?"

I gave her the green light but encouraged her to wait until her paramedic father was around to try that one.

Carnies

Tonight we hit the school carnival. And we all know my peeps never miss their chance to cheese it up for the camera.

She's Not Lost

Some girls just know where they're going.

These Days Won't Last Forever

It's Saturday night. Chris and I had been planning to go to a birthday party for a friend and the girls were all set to spend the night at Grandma's.
Just before we put the girls in the shower Lu asked the question I hope she never stops asking, "Do we have to go to Grandma's?"
"Yeah, we'd rather stay home with you guys tonight," said Roo.
There was no discussion. No debate. No doubt. My kids WANT to hang out with me. And I'm going to make it happen for I know it won't be long until we're the LAST people they want to spend their Saturday nights with. But I'm not quite ready to talk about that yet.
So, for now, we're enjoying those two little squirts who still think we're cool.

Wild Sleeper

And she wonders why I don't want her in my bed...
