welcome to the tales of our crazy life
I started this blog in April 2006 because I don't want to forget a single second of this awesome life. Why a blog? Because I'm a slacker. That's why.
Baby books? I'd actually have to find a pen. Have you SEEN my house? (Shhhhhhht...NOT a question). Scrapbooking? Puh-lease. When you can add six more hours in the day MAYBE we'll talk about it. I do like to sleep. Occasionally.
These Days Won't Last Forever
Just before we put the girls in the shower Lu asked the question I hope she never stops asking, "Do we have to go to Grandma's?"
"Yeah, we'd rather stay home with you guys tonight," said Roo.
There was no discussion. No debate. No doubt. My kids WANT to hang out with me. And I'm going to make it happen for I know it won't be long until we're the LAST people they want to spend their Saturday nights with. But I'm not quite ready to talk about that yet.
So, for now, we're enjoying those two little squirts who still think we're cool.

A New Job?
Lately we've all been wondering how Grandma is going to cope with both of the girls being in school all day. She told the girls she might have to go get a job to occupy her time.
Roo said, "Grandma, you like to cook. You could get a job in my school cafeteria."
Lu said, "Grandma, I don't want to you get a job in my cafeteria. You'll make me eat all my lunch."
Guess that's settled.

NOT. FUN.
The girls spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa's tonight. I called to say goodnight and while I was on the phone with Grandma the following conversation took place.
GRANDMA: So, did you guys end up going to Paul's graduation?
ME: No. Rilee had her end of the season soccer party that day.
GRANDMA: Well, that graduation wouldn't have been any fun for the girls anyway.
ROO (in background): And my little graduation was NOT. FUN. EITHER.
GRANDMA: Why not, Roo?
ROO: Because I had to pee.
(I totally forgot to blog that fifteen minutes into her Pre-K graduation Roo began the world's best pee pee dance. She made it through two and a half songs, all the while attempting hand signals and mouthing to me in the crowd to tell me that she had to pee. I crouched down and headed up the aisle to ask Miss Cindy if there was a break in the ceremony anytime soon when she told me there were two more songs that would be followed by a little break. I silently asked Roo if she could hold it, to which she mouthed a giant YES. Less than twenty seconds later she came darting off the stage. The whites of her eyes were practically yellow. Poor kid had to go so bad. We raced to the bathroom only missing the last half of that song and a few seconds of the next. We've never flushed and washed so fast in all our lives. She raced back up the aisle, joined her friends, gave me a BIG ol' wink and a nod and got right back to singing with her friends. That's my girl. When you gotta go...you gotta go!)

Good Snacks
Roo and I had a conversation with Grandma about healthy snacks and how she was really into edamame lately. The next day on the way to school she says, "Mom, you know what other snack I like? It's really healthy and we should call Grandma and tell her to buy some. It's wrestle sprouts. I really like wrestle sprouts. Can we call her now so she'll go buy me some?"

The Portant Years of Who
Grandma and Grandpa took the girls to see a movie today. When I asked Roo what they saw she said, "The Portant Years of Who". "You mean Horton Hears a Who?," I asked. "Yeah, Horton Years of Who," she said.
When Chris asked The Lu what it was about she said, "He wunned away."
When Mommy and Daddy Are Gone
Grandma was here watching the girls Wednesday night. Lucee was sitting on her lap and when she started to pick her nose this was the conversation that took place.
GRANDMA: Lucee, do you need a kleenex?
LUCEE: NO! When my mommy and daddy are gone I like to pick my nose and bite my fingernails.
Grandma tried her best to tell Lucee she shouldn't do that, but I don't think her words were very effective considering she was laughing uncontrollably while she spoke. (I'm sure I would have done the same thing. It's hard not to laugh at that kid. She just tells it like it is. Oh, to be so honest and real!
