welcome to the tales of our crazy life

I'm Heather. I'm over-caffeinated, under appreciated and constantly amused by these two crazy peeps we call our daughters.

I started this blog in April 2006 because I don't want to forget a single second of this awesome life. Why a blog? Because I'm a slacker. That's why.

Baby books? I'd actually have to find a pen. Have you SEEN my house? (Shhhhhhht...NOT a question). Scrapbooking? Puh-lease. When you can add six more hours in the day MAYBE we'll talk about it. I do like to sleep. Occasionally.

Hello, Lover

Playing monopoly with the family tonight.
ME : It's your turn, Chris.
LU : Why do you call Daddy Chris?
ME : What should I call him? Dirtbag? Butthead?
LU : How about Loverrrrrrrrr?
Really? How does she even come up with this stuff?

Crashes and Clowns

Chris and the girls found a killer sand pile to ride bikes through today.

Oops! This is one instance where like father, like daughter is NOT a good thing.

They may crash their bikes like one another but I am glad she got his toughness. My girl got up and got right back on her bike.

And so did he. Yes honey, you're tough, too. Now don't go getting all big headed, you hear me?

And then there's this clown. And speaking of clowns, she totally reminds me of those clowns you see in parades riding bikes 27 sizes too small for them. She rode her tricycle forever only giving it up when forced to. It was that or have Child Protective Services called because people thought we beat our child. With the bruises on her legs from whacking them into the handlebars we didn't stand a chance. And now she's just as attached to this bike. Who knows when we'll get her to give it up.

It's hard to say no to this perfect little puppy dog face. And, if you don't believe me, just ask Daddy. It's practically impossible.

He's probably scared of what comes along with this one. I know I would be.

I mean, who's crazy enough to even think about messing with this bad biker gang?

Uh huh. Yeah, didn't think so.

The Rules.

I'm in the market for a new camera (when am I not?) so one day last week I drug the girls with me to Crick's to go check one out. On the way there we went over all the rules. All THREE of them.

No touching.
No fighting.
Be quiet.

Repeat after me, girls. No touching. No fighting. Be quiet. No touching. No fighting. Be quiet.

Apparently I forgot to add the ones about not ratting out your dad and not saying things that might embarrass your mom. So while I'm chatting with Miss Angie about batteries, grips and flash cards the girls spot a man in the corner who works at the store. On the phone with his back to us he evidently overheard what The Ruler had to say (and apparently wasn't offended by it - Thank God!) because he turned around smiling and laughing almost uncontrollably.

"Hey, that guys is taller than his hair," she said as The Lu chimed in with, "Yeah, our daddy has a bald head just like that guy."

And within an instant that good humored man's uncontrollable laughter spread to the rest of us in the camera shop as The Ruler blurted out, "Yeah, and our daddy laughs like a girl!"

Poor sucker. Wasn't even there to defend himself. All I could think was please, God, make them stop there. Well, and...I can't wait to put this on the blog!

Pokey

It's Friday night. We're all clowning around in bed and as The Lu climbs over me she says, "Ouch, Mommy. Your legs are pokey." And her smarty pants big sister says, "No, Lu. Those are just hard hairs."

So now the whole world knows I didn't shave my legs for a few days. Thanks girls. Love you, too.

Note to Self

Must monitor radio time.

As if the TV doesn't have enough negative influences, now I have to monitor the radio, too. Roo walked in the kitchen singing (and dancing), "Dontcha wish your girlfriend was a freak like me? Dontcha wish your girlfriend was a freak like me?"

Dontcha wish your momma played more appropriate tunes?

That Was Fast...

Chris went to watch the KU game with some friends tonight so I prepared a delicious meal for myself and the girls.

At
Pei Wei.

Surprised at how quickly our dinner came to the table, Roo said, "Wow! That was fast. They must have rotated it in the microwave."

Shhhhhush, girl. You can't be giving away ALL my secrets.
