welcome to the tales of our crazy life
I started this blog in April 2006 because I don't want to forget a single second of this awesome life. Why a blog? Because I'm a slacker. That's why.
Baby books? I'd actually have to find a pen. Have you SEEN my house? (Shhhhhhht...NOT a question). Scrapbooking? Puh-lease. When you can add six more hours in the day MAYBE we'll talk about it. I do like to sleep. Occasionally.
First Day of School
We survived the first day of preschool...YEAH! It was a really emotional day for us. Us meaning Chris and I. We're the sappy dorks. The drop off was actually much easier than we had anticipated. We fully expected a complete meltdown from The Lu, but she was a total ROCK STAR. Not even so much as a whine or a whimper. She just went into class with Roo and was totally cool with it. (Granted we sort of snuck out quick like, but the teacher said it's best not to make a big deal of it and hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?)
After we dropped them off we went to our favorite coffee shop to hang out and relax. We were both reading different sections of the paper and every once in a while we would put the paper down and look at each other with these big, cheesy grins, giggle and say, "Can you believe our kids are in school?" Then we'd check the clock to see how long before we could pick them up. It was crazy! We're so proud of our girls!
I just love this shot because Lu is totally glued to Daddy's side (which is pretty standard for her) and Roo (the independent, not scared of anything child) is up front leading the way on their next big adventure together. It's so them!
Both of the girls really enjoyed their first day. We picked Lu up after children's day out and asked her how her day was she said, "But we fuh-got to cut." I've always avoided letting the girls play with scissors at home, even the kid kind, because I just know that one of my kids will be the one to chop their own hair. About two months before school started The Lu had a melt down and changed her mind about wanting to go to school - in a BIG, BIG way. The slightest mention of the words school, teacher or classroom would send her into an all out breakdown. The huffy, puffy, you can hardly breathe, croccodile tear kind of breakdown. During that drama that led up the first day of school we were trying to think of anything we could to convince Lu that school would be fun. I guess we must have told her that she would get to use scissors at school. We told her a lot of things, but this one must have stuck with her because apparently that's what she had her heart set on doing on the first day of school. While she was seriously disappointed that they "fuh-got to cut" she really did have a good day. The children's day out classroom has a guinea pig named "Snickuhhssssss". Technically his name is Snickers, but we prefer the way The Lu says it.
And Roo, her day was wonderful, too. When we picked her up in the afternoon we got to hear all about the girls in her class and how she had already made some new friends. She truly loved it! But seeing the huge smiles on their faces as we pulled up in the pickup line at school was simply awesome. We knew that had fun, but they were just as excited to see us as we were to see them.
